Weeks one and two post-surgery
Avoiding direct pressure to the buttocks is crucial during the first two weeks following surgery. We recommend avoiding sitting down. When the need to sit down is necessary, a soft cushion should be used. Lying on your stomach or side when resting to avoid straining the gluteal muscles is also recommended. You also need to refrain from strenuous exercise around this time.
Week three post-surgery
Refraining from sitting on hard surfaces and long periods of time should be continued on the third week post-surgery. Light cardiovascular activities such as walking are now OK.
Weeks four and five post-surgery
Slightly intense cardiovascular activities such as cycling with a soft cushion are allowed four to five weeks post-surgery. We recommend that patients continue to lie on their stomachs or sides when resting and carry on in avoiding prolonged periods of sitting.
Weeks six to eight post-surgery
At around this period of recovery, the injected fat will have most likely integrated with the rest of the fat in the gluteal area. Exercises that focus on strengthening the glute muscles such as squats, lunges, and glute bridges are recommended to maintain desired outcomes.
