Sometimes after childbirth, significant weight loss, general aging, or genital injury, a woman opts to have vaginal rejuvenation. Dr. Malamet offers this procedure to increase a woman’s comfort and self-confidence.
Vaginal rejuvenation usually involves vaginoplasty (tightening of the vagina) and some degree of labiaplasty (reshaping of the labia, the outer lips of the vagina).
Would vaginal rejuvenation be right for you?
These are some of the common reasons patients choose to have vaginal rejuvenation with Dr. Malamet:
- Your vaginal structures have become looser due to aging, pregnancies, and weight gain/loss.
- You have less sensation in the area during intercourse.
- You have discomfort from scarring due to a previous genital surgery.
- You are embarrassed by the appearance of your labia.
During a vaginoplasty, Dr. Malamet removes excess vaginal lining to tighten the surrounding tissues and muscles. This tightens the vaginal walls. The sutures are made inside the vagina, so they are not visible.
A labiaplasty can have various goals. They can be to reduce the labia minora (the inner lips of the vagina), or to reduce or augment the labia majora (the outer lips). The patient may seek to have her mons pubis reduced. Or she may opt to have her clitoral hood addressed through the removal of excess protruding tissue overlying the clitoris.
Your results from your surgery will be immediately noticeable, and they will improve as the swelling subsides. You will notice improved tightness — akin to the tightness you had in your youth — in your vagina, and your partner and yourself will need some time to adjust to the new sensations.
If you feel as if having children has decreased your sexual sensation or have other reasons for wanting vaginal rejuvenation, please call Dr. Malamet at 818-380-3130 for a consultation.
