Lip Augmentation

Lip augmentation is designed to improve the appearance of lips that may appear thin or undefined. In most cases, lips tend to lose shape and volume as we age and can actually be a new source of lines and wrinkles. Plastic surgeon Matthew Malamet, MD uses lip augmentation to recreate a more youthful, plump, and well-proportioned lip appearance. Using lip augmentation, Dr. Malamet is able to add volume back to the lips, leaving patients looking and feeling younger.

In some cases, thin and undefined lips can be something that you are born with. In these cases, lip augmentation can also create a new full and defined lip appearance. While most patients experience thinning of lips due to aging and gravity, patients who have naturally thin lips can benefit from lip augmentation.

The Lip Augmentation Procedure

Lip augmentation begins by selecting either natural or synthetic fillers. Both natural and synthetic fillers offer amazing results, but the final decision on the filler will be between you and Dr. Malamet. Since different dermal fillers offer different benefits and advantages, the type of filler used will largely depend on your individual circumstances. In some cases, a patient’s own fat may be harvested from other areas of the body and relocated to the lips to create a more plump appearance. Usually, the procedure can be performed with one simple injection, but multiple injections may be necessary depending on the type of filler and the amount of correction necessary.
