BOTOX® Cosmetic

Why Consider BOTOX?

As one of the most popular and widely requested procedures in the United States, BOTOX® Cosmetic is a non-surgical treatment that is designed to temporarily rejuvenate the face and decrease fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike dermal fillers, BOTOX is a purified substance that is designed to weaken underlying muscles and is not designed to add volume. BOTOX treats fine lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet, and other common signs of aging by causing wrinkle-causing muscles to relax. Since there are 43 muscles in the human face, it’s important that BOTOX injections are administered by a trained professional. Accidentally injecting the wrong facial muscles can cause the face to look stoic and incapable of displaying emotion. The knowledge board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Matthew Malamet has of the facial structure allows him to pinpoint wrinkle-causing muscles and produce amazing results that have no impact on natural facial expressions.

The BOTOX Procedure

Before BOTOX injections are administered, Dr. Malamet will begin by applying a topical cream to the injection locations. These precise injection locations will have been determined by Dr. Malamet during an initial examination when wrinkle causing muscles are identified. The topical cream is a numbing cream that will help minimize any discomfort felt during the procedure. Once the area is numb, injections are carefully made into the wrinkle causing muscles.

BOTOX Key Facts:

BOTOX® Cosmetic Results

BOTOX is a minimally invasive procedure that generally requires no additional down-time or recovery. Patients can generally return to daily activities the very same day. As the muscles begin to relax, the results from BOTOX injections can typically be seen within a few days. Since results from BOTOX are temporary, repeated injections will be necessary to maintain the more youthful appearance. BOTOX results typically last up to 6 months but can vary from patient to patient.
