Finally, a woman can be embarrassed by the appearance of her labia, and desire surgery to reduce their size or shape.

What is vaginal rejuvenation?

When a woman wants to counteract the stretching that is a natural byproduct of childbirth and aging, a vaginoplasty is a procedure. During a vaginoplasty, the excess vaginal lining is removed to tighten the surrounding tissues and muscles.

What is a labiaplasty?

If a patient is unhappy with the size or shape of the labia, Dr. Malamet can perform a labiaplasty. During this procedure, Dr. Malamet removes any excess skin and tissue that may be causing the labia to droop. This may involve simply reducing the size of the labia, or it could also involve changing the shape. The problem may not be simply cosmetic but can also irritate when wearing tight clothing or during certain types of exercise. Labiaplasty can be performed on the labia major (the larger, outer vaginal lips) or the labia minor (the smaller, inner vaginal lips).

Will a vaginoplasty improve my sensitivity?

Tightening the vaginal tissue does not necessarily guarantee a heightened sexual response. It can in some cases improve a woman’s sensitivity, but this is not a sure thing.

What is recovery like?

During the first one to two days, you’ll need to place ice packs or frozen peas on the incisions to minimize swelling and bruising. Routine tasks are encouraged, but there can’t be any pressure or irritation at the incision sites. Heavy lifting, which creates pressure through the hips, needs to be avoided. In 72 hours you can resume most normal activities, simply paying attention to not creating friction on the incisions. Most patients can return to work in three to four days, but a week off of work is best. There can be no intercourse or tampon use for a minimum of six weeks.
